Another editition of I’ll tell you mine and you tell me yours. Thanks to Miz B at Should Be Reading for hosting.
I’d love to know what everyone is reading. To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…(or post a link to your blog.)
• What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading? I am a big fan of Dan Chaon’s full-length novels so his short story collection, Among the Missing, has been on my TBR for a very long time. Found it on the shelf and the library last week and I’m so glad I did. Half-way through and savoring ever word. Chaon has a great talent for getting inside our insecurities and bringing them to life in situations so real, I feel like I’m deep in each story. He’s just a terrific writer.
What did you recently finish reading? This weekend I finished Prayers for the Stolen by Jennifer Clement. I posted a review yesterday so I won’t repeat all my opinions here. I should add though, that I can’t get some of the images Clement created out of my mind. I don’t read much about Mexico, especially considering my heritage, but this is inspiring me to learn more and investigate what other authors are out there writing about what’s going on in that country right now.
What do you think you’ll read next? I received an email that We Are Called to Rise is waiting for me at the local library so I’ll go pick that up today. Very excited to read this title, which could lead to great disappointment, but I’m hoping great reading instead.
which has gotten under my skin so I’m hoping to get into that soon.
How about you?
What are your W…W…W… titles?
Was reading Spirit Me Away (See the review here: http://wp.me/p2eb7U-Jv) and really enjoyed Lazaar’s fresh take on the sixties.
Am currently reading (and being blown away by) Necromancer’s Awakening by Nat Russo. Review to be posted next week.
Next up? I’m not sure yet, though there are several in the offing. I have to check my list, if I can figure out where I put it…

I hope that you get a good read too. It’s hard sometimes when we expect so much from a book! 🙂

I try to avoid the hype, but I can’t seem to avoid it with this title. I’m seeing it everywhere.

Currently reading The Accident by Chris Pavone and I’m hopelessly addicted. I don’t even know where I am half the time I’m reading. I just finished The Quick by Lauren Owen and I need to put my review up soon! And I will probably either read Night Film or Outlander next. My sister’s been burning through the Outlander series the past few days and she’s been affecting a Scottish accent ever since – I can’t decide if this is swaying me away from starting that next or making me want to read it more…

I’ve been hearing great things about The Quick. Hope to get to that this summer.
Is this the same sister who pushed you to read YA? I’d go with her opinion.

I definitely recommend Await Your Reply if you want a novel — it’s thrilling and twisted and brilliant. But if you’re a fan of short stories, this collection is outstanding.

Currently reading Adam Begley’s biography of John Updike as well as short stories for my blog. Just finished Lorrie Moore’s wonderful book of short stories Bark. Next read will be Hiroshima by John Hershey.

Thanks Don. I want to be a fan of Lorrie Moore, but she just doesn’t work for me. I read Bark earlier this month and ended up feeling confused and frustrated, even though I recognized strong quality writing.

I know what you mean about a writer not working for you. For me, that is George Saunders. I just don’t get him. And I have tried.

I’ve not yet read any Saunders, but it’s on my list.
