Back with a new W…W…W…Wednesday. Thanks to Miz B at Should Be Reading for inspiring so many of us to get involved in WWW Wednesdays. It’s always a great way to connect.
I’d love to know what everyone is reading. To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…(or post a link to your blog.)
• What are you currently reading? • What did you recently finish reading? • What do you think you’ll read next?
What are you currently reading?
Loving The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing. My mom read it recently and has been on a campaign to get people to read this book. Only 100 pages in but so far she’s right. Fractured family. India. Generation gap. All good stuff. I was reading To the Lighthouse, but it was not suiting my mood. I really do like Virginia Woolf, but I’m not in the right place for dense, cerebral prose right now.
What did you recently finish reading?
Over the weekend I finished My Salinger Year (another tick in the non-fiction column). Rakoff just carried me away with her story of a literary agency stuck in time. Although I’m not personally a Salinger fan, I still got caught up in this year in her life because of the engaging writing and her vulnerability. (Review to post tomorrow.) I also finished my audio book, Beatrice and Virgil, by Yann Martel which was so creepy and disturbing and violent, that I’m still not quite sure what to make of it.
What do you think you’ll read next?
I have a huge stack of library books which I picked up yesterday, all of which demand to be on the top of the pile. My books include new titles from great authors, like Ian McEwan and T.C. Boyle. I also have Rowell’s Fangirl, which I hope will restore my love of Rowell. I might try to zip through that first.
Happy reading everyone!

What are your W…W…W… titles? Please feel free to share a link to your own W…W…W…Wednesday posts or share your reading plans in the comments.
I enjoyed ‘Fangirl’ a lot and I hope you do, too. I read an article about ‘The Sleepwalker’s Guide to Dancing’ which gave it rave reviews. I’m glad you think it stands up to that praise.

I’m glad to hear you liked Fangirl. I was disappointed by Landline, but still want to love her.

I was a fangirl of sorts when I was in middle school and I really related to the character, so I think that helped. Despite that, it’s a great story. 🙂

Oh I hope you enjoy Fangirl – I loved it. I’ve been dying to read My Salinger Year so I’m glad you enjoyed it. I just finished Dataclysm on the way to work this morning – on the way home I think I will start The Secret Daughter of the Tsar. I don’t technically have a currently reading! Again!

I would definitely recommend My Salinger Year for you. I think you’ll enjoy. It’s also OK to be caught between books, especially when it rarely lasts even 24 hours!

I think Fangirl can definitely restore your hope in Rainbow Rowell! I’m so happy to see you’re enjoying The Sleepwalkers Guide to Dancing and My Salinger Year, they’re two that I’ve been dying to read but haven’t gotten to yet!

OH MY GOODNESS you are going to absolutely ADORE Fangirl! It was love at first *page* for me. I actually teared up at some places because I identified with Cath so much!
Have a great Wednesday ❤

Hi Alena, When I first read Beatrice and Virgil I gasped at the end and dissolved into tears for at least a minute. I was so blown away that I read it again after rereading Life of Pi to see if “everything is about the holocaust”. It was creepier the second time. Just thought I would share that with you. Susan

Susan, I’m so disturbed by this book, which I remember you talking about. I still can’t completely digest it.
